15 And I commend joy, for man has nothing better under the sun but to eat and drink and be joyful, for this will go with him in his toil through the days of his life that God has given him under the sun.

✱ I challenge you to see a thread, particularly in these verses, of how Yeshua/Jesus is sent to encourage a maternal אם role, carrying the load/lifting the burden of כל. And I remind you not to think of כל as “all,” but as “the measure of striving to attain.” And now I ask you to stretch your mind just a bit further in four “cardinal directions,” 🄰, 🄱, 🄲 and 🄳.

🄰 first think in the mental or spiritual plane rather than the physical plane

🄱 second, “see” how the load/burden is that internal feeling of “missing the mark,” which is not only the (refer to post 14. Synthetic Grasp of Life) “act of sinning” but the “result of the act of sinning,” that is, the load/burden of “guilt.”

  • Remember that the messenger (express/withhold feelings) carries a message to others, and that the message is one of either expressed or withheld feelings.

🄲 third, that “message” can be a representation of “faith.” Impression חנם without cause חנן bestow traits; grace נחם change attitude מנה apportion אמן rely; truth; faith אמם be dependent  cognate permutations (direct resource [positive/negative])

🄳 and fourth, that these expressed/withheld feelings can bring about change.

🤔 In our culture, the idea of submission has lost favor. We desire to “dominate.” But the message of submission, being the servant, is HUGE with Yeshua/Jesus.

First it is seen in the expression of faith of those who come to him for healing or restoration of life. A great set of examples is seen in combined examples in Mark 5:21-43 and Luke 8:40-56 of the woman with a prolonged discharge of blood and Jairus and his daughter. These are grouped together do you don’t miss the point – “multiple witnesses.”

Second, it is seen in the washing of feet at “the Last Supper,” in John 13:1-17.

⦁ John 13:17

17 If you know these things, blessed are you if you do them.

And here, we are returned to this very key word: השמר. First we “know” and then we “do.” Impression השמר take heed; keeping cognate permutations (observe/discern and act/restrain action)?

The discerning is the knowing.

  • Drawing the water ☸︎. The measure of striving to attain. We put in some effort, and God fulfills.

  • Feeding the five thousand – boy with loaves and fishes. John 6:1-15

☸︎ Elizabeth Gilbert from Eat, Pray, Love: “In the end, I’ve come to believe in something called the physics of the quest, a force in nature as real as the forces that govern the laws of gravity. The rules of quest physics go something like this: if you’re brave enough to leave behind everything familiar and comforting, which can be anything from your house to resentment and set out on the truth-seeking journey, either externally or internally, and if you are truly willing to regard everything that happens to you on that journey as a clue, and you accept everyone you meet along the way as a teacher, and if you were prepared to face and forgive some very difficult realities about yourself then the truth will not be withheld from you. I can’t help but believe it, given my experience.”

☸︎ Three VERY important things to remember in her statement about “quest physics” relative to the story of Rebekah. Remember that water in Scripture is symbolic of teaching. And there is a humbling involved in the quest. And it is a journey, a journey taken step-by-step.

And may I be so bold as to say (not being a woman) that it in bearing and raising children (motherhood) that this quest may be fulfilled. There is no more humbling experience

⦁ Hebrews 7:7 ESV
7 It is beyond dispute that the inferior is blessed by the superior. (Reflects Genesis 25:23.)

And may I also be so bold as to point out that even a woman as “rich and famous” as Elizabeth Gilbert can forget the powerful humbling lesson learned in “the quest” and succumb to the desires of the flesh, in so doing causing great harm to a gentle soul as shown in her more recent book, All the Way to the River. THE lesson of life is humbling oneself before YHWH. In our current culture, we do not like the idea of submission. Submission is an act of drawing water, an act of washing feet. We can’t just come to know what we learn in the process; but our actions (or lack of action – “not to act” is a purposeful act of restraint) must reflect that knowledge. השמר !

17 If you know these things, blessed are you if you do them.
